About

Genaro Strobel is an artist who has revolutionized the traditional medium of wood engraving by blending it with painting and photography. Strobel’s artistic process starts with digitally enhanced photographs which are subsequently translated into wood engravings using high-precision lasers. The natural wood grain often becomes a part of the composition. His works are monumental in scale, with some pieces reaching up to four meters in height and seven meters in width. Despite their large format, these wood engravings are highly detailed, requiring an engaged viewing experience. Gestural brushstrokes and large fields of color create an interplay between technological accuracy and human expression.
